Position Description: Accounting Associate

Non-Exempt; 32 – 40 hours / week

This position is responsible primarily for account reconciliation, financial statement preparation and tax return preparation. This individual supports the overall operations of the firm through relentless systems evaluation and support of fellow staff members.
Accountabilities:
At all times, maintains the confidentiality of client and firm data
At all times, maintains the security of the firm’s electronic data, hard copy data and premises through adherence to firm protocols for data transmission and storage, physical locks and alarm systems

Key Responsibilities:
Apply accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America to reconcile accounts and post adjusting journal entries for accrual basis accounting
Prepare income, personal property, payroll, sales and other tax returns for exempt (nonprofit) organizations
Provide client support for budgeting, grant applications and reporting, financial statement and workers compensation audits
Assist with special projects to improve the firm’s overall efficiency and client service delivery
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, donor acknowledgment letters and payroll processing
Support our clients and the firm through attendance at client events
Essential Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
Strong desire to give back to the community
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA candidate; meets 150‐hour education requirement to sit for the CPA exam
Experience with nonprofit organizations
Desire to hold an ownership position in the firm
